For Audiobookshelf libraries

Your audiobooks. Your server. Your car.

Woodshelf is an iPhone app for the Audiobookshelf server you already run. It keeps your books on the phone for bad signal, keeps your series in order, and puts the lot on CarPlay the way a long drive needs it.

Join the TestFlight betaHow it works

Private beta. Needs an Audiobookshelf server to connect to; Woodshelf does not sell or host books.

Built around the drive

CarPlay that behaves like a passenger who knows your books

Open the app in the car and the first thing you see is the book you were in the middle of, as a cover you can tap. Behind it: the next book in each series you follow, everything downloaded to the phone, and your whole library with a letter index down the side.

Now Playing has a speed button, a chapter list and a sleep timer, so nothing needs the phone.

What it does

The things a long audiobook habit actually needs

⤓

Properly offline

Download whole books or let Woodshelf cache the rest of the one you are streaming. Playback and progress keep working with no signal and sync when it returns.

≡

Series in order

Every book shows its place in the series. Follow a series and the next unfinished book appears in Up Next; finish one and the next starts after a short pause.

◔

Smart rewind

Pause for a minute, come back five seconds earlier. Pause overnight, come back thirty. You never hunt for your place.

☾

Sleep timer that fades

End of chapter or a set time, fading out rather than cutting off. Shake the phone to add fifteen minutes.

⚑

Bookmarks and history

Drop a bookmark at any moment, see your listening sessions per book, and jump back to where any of them ended.

★

Stats and badges

Hours, books, streaks and a yearly goal, matched to the badges on the web client, so both places tell the same story.

How it works

Three steps, no account to create

Run Audiobookshelf

Woodshelf is a client for the open-source Audiobookshelf server. If you already have one, you are ready. If not, see the support page for how to get one running.

Install from TestFlight

Woodshelf is in private beta. Ask for an invite, install TestFlight from the App Store, and the app appears there.

Sign in to your server

Enter your server address and the account you use on the web. Your library syncs to the phone and you are listening within a minute.
